Rock Slide

To the boiling point to which we all have drifting in goodness

Suffering to pour out…

It goes up slowly reaching for the top,

But force makes it volcanic if restraints were not in place.

If we let burst it would become the rock slide that could crush us.

Review on “Game of Thrones” by George R.R. Martin…

Recently I have been reading a series called “Game of Thrones” some of you may know of the television series on HBO. This series is originally written by George R.R. Martin. I first found out about the series through watching the Television adaption first and then began to sink my teeth into the first book of the series. I do not want to compare the two because it would not be right to have to choose which is better. Instead I will say I love both. When I first began reading the book I was not too sure about the style the chapters were assorted in, but I love the way you can get into the perspective of individual characters. The details to see through their eyes without actually it being in first person. It excites me to see a world consumed of old and yet see it through imagination. The idea of human being being able to create their own world, opposite of our own thrills my mind of creativity. It is a fascinating story, dark, full of war and incest. Then there are the creatures called the “others” who are as cold as ice. They kill the warm blooded and make them their slaves. Then you see the world of men in black cloaks who are the realm’s protection, but they take no sides. The Seven kingdoms is in chaos after their last King’s death and now it is in civil war. The realm is turning upside down. It is possible to see history through imagination’s eyes, just adding your own taste to it. For some people it might seem foreign and some might not like the way the story is written. In all honesty the book is hard to get into. So I suppose you have to really be driven to get through the first few chapters. But I can once you get past at least chapter three you are sunk into the world of chaos and you will be drowned in the world you won’t want to leave it.

I’ll write more later…

Regards to Sherwin Bitsui’s “Floodsong”

Sherwin Bitsui’s Flood Song

There is a depth to his poetry. It is almost hard to decipher what is really being said even if the words are presented on paper. But the usage of his words are intriguing. Though they paint an obscure picture, I can imagine what the meaning could really be. Think of it like slicing through cheese. Each slice is important as the next because there is always something that needs to be carefully looked at. The most interesting part of the poetry was that the words or sentences don’t always mean what they literally say out on paper. It is almost as though you have to play detective to understand what is being said. You have to see the connections and what words are being repeated through each poem. However to say if it is one long poem or individual poems slammed together it can not be to clear to the reader.

I love his style, the way he writes draws me in. Though traditionally I do not like obscureness in poetry. Something just drags the heart and the mind into the words. The best way to describe that seems to be a struggle of wanting to escape the confines of a prison. What kind of prison it is not clear. But it mentions imprisonment and escape many times through out the book. If it means the reservation life I am not too sure. One thing that is clear about it, is that there is power in every one of the poems. It makes me want to know more about his life and the experiences he has been faced with.

I do think that a poet not just him should take the chances and test their skills in many forms of poetry. Throughout the book I see repeats in each poem where it leads into chains and though I enjoy seeing the connections I would like to see more diversity in his work. Though I enjoy his poetry and the mystery behind the meaning of the poems there should be changes in forms. I feel poets should continue to explore their ability and world. His poems seem drowning and sad. However I would love to continue reading his work to see how it evolves.

I dare you all to open your eyes and smell the real breath of life and see the world for what it really is…besides its mask…

Corruption being,
Our world collapse,
Forever wasted,
With nothing left.
People gone,
Which seems even better.

Home

Though my heart breaks with each drop of the words,

I know this to be a thing come to pass,

Where we stand and decide,

Us not one, but a whole,

To keep what is believed the world stands for.

The Faith No Longer There

Here I stand upon that highland,

Over looking the world,

Seeing where it is going,

Then it slowly began to fade,

Melting away,

Into the night sky.

This is how I feel about faith,

Belief stolen,

Broken,

Given to someone else..

To which I looked up,

And knew this was not the direction

How I wish for a stronger hold,

For a vision which is painted,

For the people,

A place for sanctity,

And sanity,

Where faith in one’s home,

Is no longer doubted.

Occupy LA

To here and now where we sit at the table thinking what are we going to do with our lives. Besides that being a burden on our minds, there is also the occupation that breathes all over the news. Spreading like wildfire. It’s flames grazing the surroundings with gentle wisps of its flames. This is a good cause where people take the option of speaking their minds. Without actions that may cause injury unto others. Yet, it is shameful to say that the LA police shamelessly try to prevent their words to be carried out to city hall. This is repetitive. Spraying innocents with pepper spray and for what? For standing up and being brave? (they are acting non-violently) Why should the protesters be forced out their camping grounds in front of LA’s city hall? What shame have they done? Was it their voices? But it is something that should be spread across. What really is happening to the country? Suddenly trying to banish the right to spread the word of what the people believe in. We are the 99% speaking for what is needed and for change. How many more people have to lose their homes and suffer to live on the streets? What is happening to the basic freedoms? I don’t know what to truly say about this, but my mind is made up about one thing…

A blog that must be read…

For Middle Eastern History I am reading a book by a girl identified as “Riverbend” She is from Iraq and this is her accounts from 2003-2007, on the occupation of Iraq. It’s worth reading…I promise.

American Voices?

It is interesting to see people acting little to what is going on. I will not say people are oblivious to the reality of the concerns growing in our nation. Maybe they prefer not to see what the facts are or they feel their own concerns are of the most importance. However, though I do not stand out there this is my protest as to how the gov’t is handling things these days. It is very disappointing to see what is happening to innocent college student protesters. What have they done wrong but speak out for what one of their possibly one of their rights are? They are pepper spraying students for what? Standing outside or sitting in a silence, non-violent protest. Please what a poor excuse that is to be able to serve action. I have seen no violence occur. I have read the protesters even gain permission to have a march in Downtown La. There have been no violent reactions at all. This makes me disappointed with the way the government and local police are handling their own citizens. And what is up with this new thing about certain areas you can’t put out your own opinion (FREEDOM OF SPEECH). It is very puzzling as to how we are suddenly changing. The govt and local police trying to shut people up all because they are saying they want better laws, treatment.
